A fire at Manhattan highrise apartment complex left at least 43 people hospitalised, including 2 who were critically hurt.

As of Sunday afternoon, two patients were still in serious condition at the hospital, according to New York City Fire Department spokesman Frank Dwyer. He stated that two more people are in critical condition. Twelve firefighters, among the others, were among those receiving treatment for minor wounds.

At a news conference on Saturday, department chief Joseph Pataky stated that the two patients in critical condition have “life-threatening injuries secondary to smoke inhalation.”

According to the fire department’s report, the three-alarm flame on the 20th floor of the high-rise apartment complex was first reported at 10:24 a.m. on Saturday.

Two people who were displaced by the fire were given temporary housing and some emergency funds, according to the Red Cross.
