British keyboard player and singer Kristin McVie, who had one hit song in her career, The Fleetwood Mike, passed away at the age of 79.

McVie joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970 and endured the band’s numerous dramatic upheavals. She is the first member of the band’s most commercially successful incarnation to die, along with ex-husband John McVie (they were married from 1968 to 1976, but remained friendly as bandmates), Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, and band founder Mick Fleetwood.
Nicks shared a touching note and lyrics from the Haim song “Hallelujah” on social media, referring to McVie as “my best friend in the whole world since the first day of 1975.” Nicks stated that she only found out about McVie’s illness on Saturday and was advised to wait before traveling to London to see her ailing musical partner.
Her mellifluous vocals painted many of Fleetwood Mac’s biggest hits, including “Don’t Stop,” “You Make Loving Fun,” “Hold Me,” “Everywhere,” “Little Lies,” and “Songbird,” which closed Kristin McVie takes her career to the next level with Fleetwood Mac after Dasco debacle. Her eponymous second solo album, released in 1984, propelled her into the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 with “Got a Hold on Me,” another of her sweet-yet-sophisticated pop songs.
